Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need acoustic flooring?

If in a residential building, you need to ensure that your building has some form of acoustic floor treatment to comply with Part E of the Building Regulations 2010, ‘Resistance to the passage of sound.’

If in a school or college, you must also install acoustic flooring, to meet BB93 standards as well as Building Regulations.

JCW Acoustic Flooring will help to minimise both airborne and impact noise, stopping both from travelling to the lower and upper floors of the building.

Airborne sound, as the name suggests, refers to sounds that travel through the air, including speaking, radio and TV noise, dogs barking, and the sound of cars starting, while impact sounds relate to physical impact on buildings or solid materials. This includes the noise of walking, the opening and closing of doors, people jumping, etc.

Failure to soundproof effectively for these types of sounds can lead to not only legal implications from breaking building regulations but very unhappy residents.

Does JCW have enough experience for my project?

In the business for over 15 years, with experience in fitting out over 11,000 apartments – with 700,000 square metres of acoustic flooring – JCW Acoustic Flooring is the ideal partner for your project.
