Cellecta ScreedBoard 28 – acoustic floor coverings that provide unrivalled acoustic performance

Cellecta ScreedBoard 28 is the only single-layer solution for timber frame buildings that is compliant with Robust Details  E-FS-3, E-FT-5, E-FT-6, and FFT4 and Building Regulations in England and Wales.

Screedboard 28 is an easy-to-install dry screed acoustic flooring board frequently viewed as the solution of choice for new-build timber frame apartments.

Does Cellecta ScreedBoard 28 offer an effective soundproofing solution?

Many customers often ask why they should choose Cellecta ScreedBoard 28 instead of ScreedBoard 20.

The answer is simple – no other acoustic flooring system has better acoustic flooring legislative requirements than Cellecta ScreedBoard 28.

Thanks to its high density and unique resilient layer, Cellecta ScreedBoard 28 acoustic flooring provides unparalleled acoustic performance – typically 5dB (decibels) better than legislative requirements (including Robust Details and Building Regulations) specified as necessary across the UK.

This means that both airborne noise and impact noises are vastly reduced, creating compartments that are quiet, calm, and relaxing.

Why choose Cellecta ScreedBoard 28 for acoustic flooring?

Lower finished flooring heights

At only 28mm thick, Cellecta Screedboard 28 acoustic flooring offers a reduced finished floor height whilst offering a hard-wearing and durable surface that looks and feels like screed – without the added time, cost, and worry about a wet trade.

Instead of extending the project timeline to install liquid screeds, utilise the best of both worlds – acoustic flooring that provides exceptional resistance to airborne and impact noise with the strength and appearance of a screed finish.

Simple installation

Cellecta Screedboard 28 is quick and easy to lay, weighing 18.72kg per board and measuring 1.20m x 0.60m x 28mm, the boards are easy to handle, even on a one-man team.

The acoustic flooring solution can be cut with a hand or skill saw – perfect for working within construction noise boundaries and means that work can be completed without electrical sockets or trailing extension cables.

Vast finished flooring options

Thanks to the interlocking edges of ScreedBoard 28 acoustic flooring, it is the optimal solution for meeting Building Regulations or Robust Details and also allows building designers to choose from a range of finished flooring options, including but not limited to:

  • Carpet – which also helps insulate for noise pollution
  • Tiles of all types – including ceramic tiles
  • Laminate wooden floors
  • Amtico vinyl flooring

ScreedBoard 28 acoustic flooring systems directly accept all types of floor coverings, without the need for overlaying – saving time and money and helping complete jobs faster!

Cellecta Screedboard FAQ's

What is Screedboard?

Screedboard 20 and Screedboard 28 are products manufactured by Cellecta. The Cellecta Screedboard 20 is a 20mm calcium sulphate board is reinforced with cellulose fibre. The Cellecta Screedboard 28 has an 8mm Fibre resilient layer which reduces impact sound transmission.

Why Choose Screedboard?

The Cellecta Screedboard 20 is predominantly used over underfloor heating due to its low thermal resistance. When laid over routed insulation with underfloor heating pipes it is an ideal alternative to a wet screed.

The Cellecta Screedboard 28 can be used in many applications however it is predominantly used in timber frame construction. The high density board and unique resilient layer provide an unrivalled single layer solution.

How much does Cellecta Screedboard 28 cost?

The price you’ll pay for Cellecta Screedboard 28 can vary depending on the size of your floor, the amount of the product you require, and the supplier.

Here at JCW Acoustic Flooring, we pride ourselves on completing projects on time and within budget. This is why we keep our prices competitive to ensure you receive maximum value for your money.

What can Cellecta Screedboard 28 be used for?

The award-winning composite acoustic overlay, Cellecta Screedboard 28, is suitable for all types of separating floors – be it steel, concrete, or timber.

It can be installed as part of a compliant separating floor system to exceed part E of the building regulations, and is known for its excellent soundproofing properties.

Measuring only 28mm thick, Cellecta Screedboard 28 is ideal for new builds and refurbishments alike. Its slim design helps to minimise the impact on floor height whilst also reducing the transmission of impact and airborne sound between floors.

Why choose Cellecta Screedboard instead of using liquid screed?

Installing liquid screed is a messy, labour-intensive process that many will avoid if they can help it.

Access can be tricky, as most screed is poured from buckets or a large hose, which runs the risk of spilling and can be difficult to manoeuvre in smaller spaces.

Similarly, if curing conditions are not optimal, the screed can take a long time to set, and can even set incorrectly.

Cellecta Screedboard 28, on the other hand, is notoriously easy to install. It requires only a hand or skill saw to cut it – and has a hardwearing and durable surface that looks and feels like screed.

Do the interlocking edges of Cellecta Screedboard 28 increase soundproofing?

The interlocking edges of the Screedboard, sometimes referred to as tongue and groove, allow for the improvement of acoustic insulation.

This edge type makes installation very easy while reducing the transmission of impact and airborne sound. This is down to the interlocking structure, which reduces gaps between the boards and therefore lessens how much sound can pass through.

Cellecta Screedboard 28 is also very slim, helping to minimise the impact on floor height and can be covered by any finished flooring type, including tiles, which makes it an optimal solution for almost any new-build project.

This means you can use any finished flooring you prefer, including carpet, which is also known to reduce sound transmission.
