E-FT-5 AND E-FT-6 ACOUSTIC FLOOR SYSTEM

EFT-5 and EFT-6 are Robust detail flooring systems using Cellecta ScreedBoard 28. The EFT-5 and EFT-6 Systems are hardwearing acoustic floor solutions compliant with Robust Details. EFT-5 and EFT-6 systems (Cellecta Screedboard 28) are commonly viewed as the solution of choice for new build timber frame apartments.

At only 28mm thick Cellecta Screedboard 28 offers a reduced finished floor height whilst offering a hard wearing surface that looks and feels like screed.

The Cellecta Screedboard 28 is quick and easy to lay, weighing 18.72kg per board and are measuring 1.20m x 0.60m x 28mm the boards are easy to handle.

The Yelofon FS50 edge strip must be laid at all perimeters to isolate the ScreedBoard28 from the perimeter walls.

The Cellecta Screedboard 28 can also incorporate underfloor heating by selecting the Screedboard 20 and laying the 8mm Fibrefon resilient layer below routed thermal insulation such as polystyrene or polyurethane.

As with any robust detail the correct external wall, separating wall internal wall and ceiling detail must be adhered to. The Robust Detail handbook should be consulted to ensure that the separating wall is compatible with the separating floor and vice versa. The Robust Detail checklist should be used to ensure that details are adhered to throughout each sequence of the build.

When installed correctly by JCW robust details EFT-5 and EFT-6 will exceed the requirements set out in Part E of the Building Regulations.

With over 15 years of experience in installing all types of Robust Detail flooring solutions, JCW Acoustic Flooring have the knowledge and expertise to ensure that floating floors are installed correctly giving complete peace of mind.

Robust Detail E-FT-5 FAQs

What is Robust Detail E-FT-5?

Robust Detail E-FT-5 is one of the tried and tested solutions that gives developers and contractors the assurance that the Cellecta Screedboard® 28 system will meet acoustic requirements when used on timber floors.

The Robust Detail E-FT-5 provides separating floors that achieve the sound performance parameters in Approved Document E, whilst also complying with stringent building regulations.

What requirements need to be met as part of E-FT-5?

Robust Detail inspectors will look for a number of things to ensure E-FT-5 is met.

For example, the timber I-joists must be 240mm deep, the appropriate resilient ceiling bars need to be fitted at right angles to the joists, and the sub-deck minimum is to be 18mm (or 600kg/m³).

The mineral between joists must be a minimum of 100mm thick and have a density of 10-36kg per m³.

When underfloor heating is used with separating floors, FIBREfon® 8 must be installed, along with Screedboard 20. All joints need to be sealed with tape or caulk too.

The good news is, our experienced fitters will always ensure your acoustic floors are installed correctly, safely and to meet the requirements of Robust Details E-FT-5 and Part E of building regulations.

What is Robust Detail E-FT-6?

Robust Details have been pre-designed to exceed the requirements of the building regulations, and the E-FT-6 is no exception.

Robust Detail E-FT-6 is applicable to new builds with metal web joists. It includes a Cellecta Screedboard 28 floating floor, on an 18mm thick wood-based board, with a YELOfon FS50 flanking strip laid around the edge to separate the screedboard from the walls.

The E-FT-6 is also compatible with underfloor heating systems.

What are the benefits of using the E-FT-5 and E-FT-6 schemes?

Robust Details were set up in 2004 to help architects and building contractors design and construct separating elements with confidence.

Robust Detail E-FT-5 is for timber I-joist separating floors, whereas Robust Detail E-FT-6 is for metal web joist separating floors.

They both ensure compliance with Part E of the building regulations and reduce the need to carry out pre-completion sound testing. This eliminates the risk of uncertainty of remedial action and potential delays, helping projects to complete on time.
