JCW Acoustic Flooring has recently completed a 12 month contract to install acoustic flooring in the iconic 1,000 apartment Park Hill estate in Sheffield for main contractor Urban Splash. The extensive installation was achieved using the JCW Robust Standard Detail FFT2, resilient cradle and batten system.

Built in 1957 and formerly the largest council estate in Europe, Park Hill comprises of surprisingly spacious one and two bedroom, duplex, dual aspect apartments. In 1998 the development was given grade II listed building status, making it the largest listed structure in Europe.

Inventive developers Urban Splash, a company renowned for regenerating buildings, working in partnership with English Heritage and Hawkins/Brown Architects has redeveloped Park Hill into stylish apartments and commercial spaces. The £120m project has subsequently won multiple awards, including the RIBA National Award, the RIBA Yorkshire Region Award and the Sunday Times British Homes Award, reflecting Park Hill as a market leader in design and quality.

Many of the stylishly regenerated homes, which have excellent views across the city and toward the green open areas of the Peak District National Park have already been occupied, with more apartments coming available as they reach completion. Furthermore a new ‘high street’ of local shops, bars, pubs and restaurants gives the redeveloped Park Hill a cosmopolitan feel and reconnects it with the rest of the city.

JCW Acoustic Flooring is delighted to have been associated yet again with a sustainable, vibrant and prestigious development driven by Urban Splash and look forward to continuing its long association with this progressive company.
