The JCW50C Acoustic Batten system is designed for use on concrete subfloors. They can be used within new build and refurbishment projects. Whether working to Robust Details or Pre Completion Testing, JCW Acoustic Batten Systems offer the ideal solution for concrete sub-floors.
The JCW50C Acoustic Batten has a 10mm pre bonded resilient layer which is made from open cell, recycled polyurethane. Standard batten sizes are 50mm overall, however other battens sizes are available to suit any finished floor level that you may require.
The JCW50C Acoustic Batten system offers an exceptional reduction in impact sound and whilst maintaining a high compressive strength.
The JCW50C batten system creates a void beneath the floor allowing services to be installed between battens. It is important however that services do not bridge the resilient layer on the battens.
JCW Acoustic battens can be overlaid with an 18mm (min) tongued and grooved board. This is usually chipboard but can be plywood or engineered hardwood flooring
A 5mm (min) perimeter edge strip is required around the perimeter. This is to isolate the floating floor from walls and skirting boards.
It is important that the manufacturers recommendations are adhered to for batten centres. Please contact us for further advice on 01204 548 400.
All acoustic battens used by JCW Acoustic Flooring have been tested in a UKAS accredited laboratory.
When installed correctly JCW50C Acoustic Battens will exceed the requirements set out in Part E of the Building Regulations.
With over 15 years of experience in installing all types of acoustic flooring systems, JCW Acoustic Flooring have the knowledge and expertise to ensure that floating floors are installed correctly giving complete peace of mind.
The JCW 50C Acoustic Battens are designed for concrete base floors and are made up of a 10mm pre-bonded resilient layer with a 40mm batten, creating a total depth of 50mm.
JCW also stock an 80C Acoustic Batten.
However, if you wish to use the Acoustic Batten system but have a different finished floor level, custom batten sizes are available and can be manufactured bespoke for compliance with any individual project requirements.
You’re guaranteed exceptional reduction in impact sounds while maintaining high compressive strength – no matter the batten depth.
If you are looking for acoustic protection for your construction project, you will need to consider both impact and airborne sounds, due to sound travelling through both structures and the air.
Impact sound occurs when one object contacts another, generating a sound that can travel through a building.
Common examples of impact sounds include footsteps, objects hitting the walls, and doors closing.
This type of sound can be difficult to stop as the impact creates both sides of the building to vibrate, generating sound waves that can travel further through dense materials.
Airborne sound, however, is when sound waves are transmitted by air until they contact something solid, like a wall. The vibrations then pass through the wall and can be heard by people in adjoining rooms or buildings.
Common airborne sounds include talking and shouting, dogs barking, music and dialogue from the TV.
JCW’s 50C Acoustic Battens protect properties from the transmission of both impact and airborne sounds, helping to create calmer, more private spaces.
While we generally supply Acoustic Battens for construction sites and larger projects, we do also supply them for smaller projects run by private homeowners looking to refurbish their homes.
These customers are sometimes curious about avoiding installation fees and want to install acoustic solutions themselves.
However, small mistakes and installation errors can completely negate the acoustic insulation. For this reason, we advise you to enlist the help of a professional to help you install your Acoustic Battens.
Most people believe that acoustic insulation is only present in the walls.
However, good acoustic design should include sound absorption for the ceiling/floors too – especially in dwellings such as flats and apartments, and infrastructure like schools and hospitals, where noise can travel up and down to other rooms.
JCW Acoustic Flooring manufactures, supplies, and installs acoustic products for the floor which when installed above other rooms are excellent for absorbing noise and therefore, stopping it from passing on to other rooms above and below.
When combined with sound absorption in the walls, this provides the optimum solution for keeping airborne and impact sounds contained.
